This
service is not offered by most shops. Why? because
the inspection itself can get time consuming. If
the equipment fails the test it becomes a multi day repair.
Once the equipment is repaired it must be re-checked over
a multi day period in order to verify the repair status.
Most shops are either not familiar with the procedure
or don't want to devote the time and effort required for
this type of testing and repair. The repair and recheck
process must be performed by a very experienced technician. The temperature
variance test involves heating up the equipment with a
heat lamp or blow dryer and then chilling the chassis down
with a freezing agent in order to reproduce an intermitting
failure than is not reproducible with standard checks. Of
course judgment is exercised. In some cases it is not economically
feasible to proceed with this type of testing due to the price
range of the equipment. |
Amplifier
|
Includes
the following checks: Dead
key and peak envelope on each power level, correct
balancing of multiple banks if applicable,
SWR level back into the transmitter on
each power level, preamp
function check and an
internal visual inspection |
Note:If
the transceiver is repaired there is no bench check
fee. This fee applies to situations where there is no
problem found with the equipment or an estimate is declined. |
